Although the media tends to focus on big ideas like renewable energy, cloud computing and low energy datacentres, these are difficult for many businesses to engage with. In response to demand from our Green Card members, Kyocera has brought together some of the leading companies in the environmental office technology sector to showcase practical low-carbon solutions that are more accessible. This free-to-attend event will showcase cutting edge office technologies that cut costs and reduce carbon emissions. Places are limited to 50 delegates, so registration is essential.
Date: Tuesday October 19th 2010
Venue: The showcase will take place at Kyocera’s state-of-the-art Technology Suite in Central London.
41a Mortimer Street

Doxense:
In the UK 18% of everything that is printed is thrown away without ever being read. Watchdoc works with document hardware to allow a customer to understand, control and reduce the amount being printed by dramatically reducing that waste and its impact on the environment by supporting a culture of ‘responsible printing’. By reducing the waste Watchdoc can reduce the direct printing costs by over 20% and pay for itself in less than 6 months. The system tracks the actual savings and displays them in terms of both cash as well a reduction on environmental impact and CO2. Less waste equals less CO2. Watchdoc is the only print management optimisation and management solution that tracks CO2 and impact on the environment.
Miniframe: Multi-seat Computing. Multi-Award winning SoftXpand™ software allows up to 6 users to share 1 PC with no loss in performance, all the while delivering the recognised industry standard Windows® operating system experience. Gartner has established that 70% of the carbon life cycle of a desktop computer is embodied within it and only 30% is accounted to its use. Multi-seat computing reduces the environmental impact of IT more than any other system available today. As no access devices are needed, only 1 PC needs to be built, packaged, shipped, networked, powered, cooled, maintained & then disposed of for up to 6 users. SoftXpand Ecoware uses 83% less electricity than conventional PCs and less than thin client solutions without the performance loss, and saves around 70% of the total cost of ownership.
Solaveil: SolaVeil is a carbon reduction and energy efficiency solution that enables commercial buildings to maximise their use of Cool Daylight, a free natural energy source. Occupiers can now enjoy naturally lit, cool, clean and healthy environments in buildings that also demonstrate significantly reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions. SolaVeil increases a building’s natural daylight illumination, reducing the amount of energy required to light and cool buildings by day and also at night. In winter and cooler climate zones, SolaVeil insulates, reducing building heat loss through glass by as much as 30%, reducing building energy consumption and carbon emissions still further.
Kyocera: Kyocera pioneered sustainable office printing in 1992 with the launch of its Ecosys cartridge-free design concept. Instead of replacing everything that’s mechanically clever every time the printer runs out of toner, Kyocera designs those components to last the product’s lifetime so that only toner needs to be regularly replaced. Now on its fifth generation, the Ecosys concept has now been applied to the entire Kyocera range and is supported by an extensive range of software solutions designed to optimise document workflows and reduce unnecessary expense and waste. Whether implemented as a straightforward hardware refresh, or as part of a full managed document service, Kyocera printers and multifunctionals can reduce energy consumption and consumables costs.
